Obituary of George Joseph Kovacs
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Joseph Kovacs passed away on June the 9th, 2022. At 36 years of age, he stood tall and strong, a warm, sensitive, kind young man.
George was the protector of his younger brother, Christopher, and always carried within his heart the finest memories of his sisters, Chelsea and Jennifer.
George was most compassionate. He loved animals, rescuing many and bringing them home, welcoming them into his family circle. Roscoe, truly this man’s best friend, accompanied George along his travels; and Bad Binks snuggled on his chest peacefully purring.
George loved nature and the outdoors. He was an ardent hiker. You would often find him on the trails of surrounding reservations and parks or peacefully walking the main street of his hometown.
Along the way, George frequently and quite literally took the shirt or coat off his back and clothed homeless folk. He helped fallen fellow hikers or walkers with first aid and comforting words. He gave true and selfless meaning to the phrase, “random acts of kindness.”
George was a certified and accomplished Luthier having crafted the most beautiful guitars. He was passionate about music and created magical pieces that he expertly played on his guitar. During his career, George worked as a musical technician repairing instruments and electronic equipment that bands used when bringing music to crowds of people. Such was his supportive nature.
George was also a talented artist. His drawings, sketches, and paintings remain as a reminder of his unique yet warm nature, sensitive to the needs of ALL. Authoring brilliant essays, letters, and poems made up a large part of his creative repertoire. George was a prolific writer.
As we bring joyful thoughts of George to mind, we remember his brilliant mind, his great sense of humor, quirky at times, and his absolute loyalty to many friends. George was the ultimate Includer, circling his arms around ALL, never harboring a scintilla of judgmental thought, tightly keeping close to his chest confidences.
George is well-known for many wonderful things. Most importantly, George is known for his huge heart overflowing with kindness, caring, and love for ALL.
George was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, George Joseph and Beatrice (Redstone) Kovacs; maternal grandparents, Stanley and Helen (Manka) Witkowski; as well as his three aunts: Anne, Margaret (Corr), and Beatrice Kovacs.
He leaves behind his loving parents, Jadwiga Hedi M. Witkowski Kovacs and George James Kovacs; two sisters – Jennifer A. Faller and her husband James; Chelsea M. Kovacs and her soulmate Philip Hartmann; and a brother, Christopher Stanley Kovacs.
George also leaves behind his aunts: Barbara Cassissa and her husband George; Georgette Kovacs; Theresa Eve Wester and her husband Russell; and Christine (Kiki) Grezlak and her husband Theodore; as well as many cousins and friends.
