I send my deepest condolences to the DeBlis family for Michael DeBlis Jr. He was a great person. I met him through his daughter who went to middle and high school with me. I also went to high school with Michael Jr's son, Ryan. Michael Jr raised his family very well. He is missed greatly.

The Nelson Family will forever be grateful for Mike DeBlis. Mike and Lorraine welcomed our son, Lars, into their home and hearts while he was a medical student. They treated him as if he was one of their own sons. Although many years have passed, we continue to think of Mike and Lorraine as Lars’ New Jersey parents! Our thoughts and prayers are with Lorraine, Michael, Ryan, Courtney, close family and friends during this sad and difficult time; and, yet, we celebrate Mike’s release from pain and suffering into his heavenly home, while looking forward to seeing him again in Eternity. Love, The Nelsons: Hank and Sherry, Niles, Lars and Kristin, Leah, Siena, and Audrey

I feel honored to have known Mike and worked along side of him at the Bergen County Courthouse. He was a passionate fighter for the rights of all people charged with crimes. Mike was also a true gentleman and he will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family. Rest in peace my friend.

Mike is a remarkable man. A heralded man of faith in God and church, an Angel to his wonderful wife Lorraine and three incredible and wonderful children. My heart is hit, my mind wanders as I recall the many smiles, laughs and intriguing discussions we shared for so many years. I am saddened I was unable to spend more time with Mike who loved to and always proudly, emphatically spoke of his children. Of their passions, successes, dreams and aspirations: spoken with incredible heart, smiles and pride. Mike as we all know loved the game of hockey and could also certainly bend an ear of his favorite sport. I also, so highly respect and admire Mike for his legal successes as an Attorney, imagining just how many people Mike helped and touched for his decades of loyal and trusted advice and services. I am blessed for my time with Mike, for my family's time with the entire DeBlis family. I am blessed for my moments of engagement with mighty wonderful Mike and we look forward to seeing him in church this Saturday... and to seeing him again for eternity in God's beautiful Kingdom, in heaven above. God bless our Mike, an incredible husband, father and friend of all he touched with the mammoth abundance and love of his caring, sharing and giving heart.

To the DeBlis family, Our deepest regrets to all of you, friends and family. A loss for many. Mike was a dear friend, I wanted to volunteer and coach ice hockey and was paired with Mike at Clary Anderson arena, we coached numerous teams over the years. I enjoyed all those games. I admired Mikes work ethic, positive attitude and his encouragement for the players. He always had a great smile, laugh and made the most/best out of every situation on/off the ice. He encouraged me to referee ice hockey, I refereed my first game ever with him and many more. He always gave me great advise on many subjects. He took the time to write a letter of reference for me. Which I appreciate to this day. A great family man, lawyer, husband, coach, USA Referee, father, neighbor. I will always remember our talks, of course across the street at the bagel shop where everyone knew his name. They should name a bagel after him.(The DeBlis) or (Nice call ref :)) I know his wonderful wife and children, Who are great people and will carry his legacy out in the world. I like many shall miss his infectious smile, laugh and positive outlook. May his memory be eternal, God Bless Mike, "See you on the Ice" Love Don, Despina, Ryan, Karisa and Katie Taggart

To the DeBlis Family,
I am Truly Sorry for the of Mike, I consider him a friend, and if I can say a real gentleman. I hope this little capsule will bring you joy and a smile to you all. It all started when a friend of mine told me a new organization Jersey Penguins was going to play out of Clarey and need coaches. So I setup a meeting with Mike and discussion went well and I was in. After that of course anyone who knew Mike , we went across the street to the famous bagel store and him telling me about everything in that strip of stores. As we sit there talking a grin comes on his face and his hardy laugh he says I need a favor, I said if I can no problem. So tells me his partner was a Russian named Igor, oh nice I get along with everyone ( boy was I wrong geez.) so what do you need, he said Igor speech not great and really little tough on kids. And needs me to babysit Igor and Coach with him. I said ok ( dummy me), so I meet Igor he ran practice in preseason ( Russian Training Camp). Season starts Igor tells Mike, to ask me if I pick him up for away games I did. At least I knew he would be on time , home games he would coming running in locker room as the horn is blowing and wanted to go over stuff which we did 20 minutes earlier. Once, the season started barely saw Igor for practice as always something was happening, babysitting, Russian Tea Party you get the idea.No matter what time the first game was Mike was hands on and there. Once it turned cold outside, THE BIG BIRD BRIGHT YELLOW JACKET came out ( lol ).
I will leave you with a classic, we had a non league game against Suffolk PAL in Long Island which Mike setup to see how we matched up as we had a strong NJYHL Team. So the routine as usual go the get Igor pull up he comes out in pjs I can’t go and non league, you be good and shakes hand with a Big Smile, felt like I was just shaking on a Russian Mob Contract (lol). No big deal drove out alone and see everyone and get them settled too get ready to come out of locker room to have Robbie Ftorek, waiting for me. Frank , yes Coach what’s up he says were is Igor and tell me the truth Frank like you a lot and kids love what your teaching them Casey always talks about you. I said Thank You Coach went to pick him up and he came out not dressed and said he wasn’t going so I left.He said really yes hold on, didn’t know what was next but hear Igor answer with a cheerful Hello, that was the last time Igor talked Robbie says why aren’t you because your lazy if you don’t show up today Casey and others will go back to the blues do you hear that and hung up, don’t think Igor couldn’t say goodbye cuz Robbie hung up ( ha ha ha ). I said Coach you serious he of course not kids love when he isn’t around. So we go out play doing really well, but realize this all happened before the game. I look over as the game is going on running through the door was Team Igor , wife and kids ( ha ha ha). What worse he couldn’t Coach I told Lou Ferraro too leave Igor off the Scoresheet. ( ha ha ha ). We lost that day to PAL 3-2.
Well every Monday I had a standing meeting with Mike at the office, so he could be updated from weekend. Go in say hi to the secretary, and go in where he would say sit down I would say where Mike as files all over from cases on chairs the floor. So I go on too tell him about the game which he was excited about our effort. Then I tell him the Igor Screenplay, as I go on he starts Hysterically laughing going back in his chair then coming back up elbows on the desk hands on face . Well we were so loud the secretary comes in to see if we were all right, as we all know that Hardy laugh.
Well closing Mike my friend, I am truly Sorry we didn’t keep in touch all these years but I can’t fix that wish I could. Thank You for being a friend a mentor and someone who put his mark on growing the Game through Youth Hockey.
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND GOD BLESS. TILL WE MEET AGAIN, IF the YELLOW JACKET is still around wear it so I find you up there. ( ha ha ha). To the DeBlis Family, my deepest condolences and GOD BLESS YOU ALL, hope I brought a few smiles to your faces during this very tough time.
