Barbara D. Codner of Bloomfield passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014. Barbara, known to many as Bobbie, grew up in Bloomfield then moved to South Plainfield to raise her family. In later years, she returned to Bloomfield and was employed by Montclair State College as a coordinator for several departments, until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed learning new information on her computer, traveling and doing yard and garden work. She was very fond of the kitties she gave homes to over the years. Bobbie was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Beatrice Davis. She is survived by her children, Steven Codner, Cheryl Lankford and her husband David, Glenn Codner and his wife Nancy; a sister Carol D. Little; 2 grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth and Katelyn. A memorial gathering to celebrate Bobbie's life will be held at Frank Halpin's Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Bobbie's memory to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, 61 Bukowski Place, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
