Bertha Smith passed away at 86 on Sunday, October 25, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Bertha was born April 20, 1934 in Norfolk Virginia to Charles & Rosalie Johnson. Bertha was predeceased by her husband Jesse A. Smith Sr. and her son Jesse A. Smith Jr. She is survived by her daughter Deborah, grandchildren: Darren, Cameron, Larissa, and a host of many who adored her. Bertha enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and watching The Andy Griffin show. She was employed for 50 years at Mountainside Hospital as a nurse’s assistant. She took tremendous pride in the care of her patients and always provided immeasurable love, care, and support to her family. She will be tremendously missed but will be loved and remembered always. John: 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”.
