Elizabeth (Betty) Ruth Futyma, passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2020. She was 76. Betty was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and Berkeley Secretarial School. She was employed as a legal secretary at Haskins, Hack, Piro and O’Day for over 30 years before retiring to spend time with her family. Betty was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Nutley, NJ, where she was very active and enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. Betty had an avid love for animals, especially dogs. When she wasn’t doting on her furry friends, she enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. Betty was a woman known for her deep compassion and giving to others. Her bubbly personality was what made her so special and she worked hard for her family and anyone in need. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and spending time at their favorite activities. Betty was predeceased by her parents Fred and Margaret Geng; her husband, Martin Futyma; and her daughter Catherine Futyma Brown. Elizabeth leaves behind her daughter, Stacy Christopulos and her husband Peter; as well as five grandchildren – Matthew, Alyssa, Victoria, Nicholas (Christopulos), and Maddy (Brown). All services will be private. Services are being handled by Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home https://brookdalefh.com/.
