Helen M. Murphy, of Bloomfield, entered into eternal life on Thursday January 21st. She was 83. Born and raised in New York, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius O'Leary and Rachel (Fitzgerald) O'Leary. She lived in Bloomfield for the past 53 years and was a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield. Helen was predeceased by her husband John P. Murphy and their son Neil J. Murphy. She is survived by her children: John K. Murphy of Bloomfield, Colin T. Murphy and his partner Derek Clark of Las Vegas, Joan Wynne and her husband Edward of Clifton, Eileen Weber and her husband Bill of Bloomfield, her grandchildren, Kelley Chick, Meredith Murphy, John and Thomas Wynne, Kevin, Sean and Colleen Weber; her great-grandchildren, Sophia and Emma Chick; and her brother Neil O'Leary. Visitation will be on Monday, January 25, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral & Cremation Service, 1284 Broad St. in Bloomfield, N.J. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday January 26, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to a local food bank in her memory.
